Living in Five Points: Compare Its Blocks, Homes, and Daily Trips
In Five Points, a buyer can compare older houses, rowhouses, condos, and homes in larger buildings close to downtown. Curtis Park, Welton Street, the Park Avenue and Walnut Street edge, and the Five Points side near 38th and Blake have different streets and buildings. A front door on Welton Street leads to a different walk and drive than a front door in Curtis Park.
Why the Streets Change So Quickly
Five Points takes its name from the offset meeting of Welton Street, Washington Street, 26th Avenue, and 27th Street. Denver's diagonal downtown streets meet the rectangular streets here. That street layout helps explain why a short walk can move from older residential blocks to Welton Street or toward downtown-facing blocks.
Denver city limits and neighborhoods map
The navy shape is the City of Denver as the US Census Bureau draws it in its 2026 boundary data. The sage shapes around it are the neighboring towns and unincorporated areas. Teal pins mark landmarks. Rust pins mark local favorites: places to eat, shop and get outside. Sage pins mark Denver neighborhoods with homes for sale, each placed at the center of its listings.

Before opening the home search, decide which daily trips need to be simple. Think about the grocery store you would use, the bus stop you would walk to, the street you would take to work, and whether you want a private entrance or a shared lobby.
How the Four Parts of Five Points Differ
Curtis Park
Older cottages, houses, duplexes, and rowhouses sit on residential blocks with sidewalks and tree lawns. Park Avenue can simplify a drive out of downtown, while grocery trips on foot may take more planning.
Welton Street
The historic business, culture, and music corridor includes the Blair-Caldwell library at 2401 Welton. A condo or larger building on Welton Street may put the bus close to the front door. For groceries and other errands, check the exact walk to the store and bus stop you would use.
Park Avenue and Walnut Street
Homes sit near Coors Field blocks that fill for games and events, with direct approaches to I-25 and I-70. One resident valued that access but wanted more shade and a grocery store closer to home.
The Five Points Side Near 38th and Blake
The buildings become newer and larger toward the A Line station. The station sits near the edge of Five Points, with other Denver neighborhoods beginning nearby. Confirm that a home is in Five Points, then look at its entrance and block.
How Work and Errand Trips Differ
One Five Points resident who works downtown described using a scooter or bus for the commute and using a car little from day to day. A Welton Street resident once used the L Line for work and downtown shopping but found some trips south of Park Avenue inconvenient. Those are two people's experiences. From a home you are considering, walk to the grocery store or bus stop you would use and drive the streets you would take home.
Transit has changed. Effective June 7, 2026, RTD suspended the L Line during downtown reconstruction. RTD's 43 bus now carries the corridor connection between Central Park Station and Auraria, with peak service scheduled every 7.5 minutes. Check RTD's current trip planner before relying on that service.
Compare the Home and the Building Together
An older Curtis Park house can give you a private entrance and more control over exterior work, but you may also take on more maintenance. A condo or a home in a larger building can move some work and costs to an HOA or condo association. Parking can also be a garage, an assigned space, or the curb.
Once you would seriously consider a home, use the Denver home buyer verification checklist to review its parking rights, shared building costs, insurance, and any historic-review rules.
