Here are some tips if you try to sell your home while in the Florida probate process.

1. Timely File the Will at the Probate Court

The probate court in Florida dictates that the descendants of the deceased must file the will with the probate court within thirty days from the date of demise. Regardless of the Estate's size and value, the executors must file with the court within the timeframe; otherwise, you may face legal trouble.

2. Check if Your Estate’s Probate can Speed Up

Probate hearings can even last for years. However, the regular probate process takes up to six months. But, some states in the country have switched to a shorter probate process for specific estates.

It is called the Uniform Probate Code, which makes the process more efficient. So, check with the state rules regarding the Probate to determine if your Estate qualifies for a streamlined process.

3. Hire an Experienced Agent in Dealing with Probate Properties

You must only list the Estate for sale when the court has officially appointed you as the Estate's executor. Other than the timing of hiring an agent to list the Estate, who you choose matters more.

The agent must be experienced in dealing with probate estates, which are much more challenging. An experienced agent will help you navigate the complex procedures.

If you wish to avoid the complex procedure, some companies happily buy probate properties from you.

4. Sell the Estate as soon as it Enters Probate

If you have decided to sell the Estate, starting with the significant assets is the best strategy. One of the most important assets is often the house. So, try to sell the house as quickly as possible because it incurs costs if you do not sell it.

You will be paying the mortgages, utility bills, and upkeep bills until you sell the property. Selling the house early will prevent incurring any wasteful expenditures from your inheritance.

5. Try to Improve the Property Before Selling

While the legalities associated with any probate properties may hinder the selling process, revamping the house may delay the process even further.

Most of the time, executors are in a hurry to sell the house and list the property in current condition.

However, it is a rule of thumb to do repairs and improvements to the property before listing. Most people are looking for ready-to-move-in properties.
