What to check before you buy for the courts

• Walk it at 8 a.m. on a Saturday. That is when you learn whether the courts are usable or a two-hour wait.
• Ask who maintains them. City parks are free and first-come. HOA courts are reservable and paid for by dues.
• Noise. Pickleball is loud. A home backing to a public complex hears it from dawn to dusk. Buy one street over, not on the fence line.
• Indoor options. Colorado winters push play indoors from December to March. The rec centers in Fort Collins, Aurora, Centennial and Colorado Springs run indoor courts; the map pins include them.
